Kiara Haegeman obtained her master’s degree in Geography at Ghent University in 2021. In 2023, she obtained a second master’s degree in Soil Science and Global Change with a specialisation in physical land resources. Since September 1st 2023, she is working as a teaching and research assistant at the department of Geography (Ghent University), while kickstarting her PhD project focused on enhancing the resilience of agricultural landscapes in Flanders against extreme rainfall events.
