Wei Wu is currently conducting 18 months of postdoctoral research at the UGent UAV Research Centre (URC), funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). Since 2021, he has been with the Agricultural Information Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), first as a postdoctoral researcher and, since 2025, as an Assistant Research Fellow.
His research applies UAV remote sensing, machine vision and deep learning to agricultural and ecological monitoring, including crop phenotyping and grassland rodent monitoring.
